Process

Step 1: Introductory Call

Your initial, complimentary call with me consists of a general conversation uncovering your reasons for seeking a financial advisor professional and what you want to get out of our partnership. It’s a two-way conversation, however. I’ll also share more about what I do as your wealth manager and the approach I take with clients so we can determine if we’re a good fit for each other.

Step 2: Discovery Call

My approach is grounded in the fact that every client is unique and there are no one-size-fits-all solutions. So during our discovery call, we’ll get more detailed about your money goals and I’ll gain a deeper understanding of your life stage: where you are in your career, do you have children or grandchildren, are you getting close to retirement or not. We’ll also discuss my fees and whether or not you would like to commit to working together.

Step 3: Think On It

Now is the time to ask yourself questions you have about the process we are about to embark upon. You may wonder:

  • In one, three, or five years, what will it look like for me if you do a good job with my financial and investment management planning?
  • How do I feel about market volatility? And how does that impact your approach?
  • What are the costs and benefits of working together? Is it worth the investment?

Feel free to take as much as time as you need to decide on your next step. Talk it through with your family. I will be here when you decide the time is right for you.

Step 4: Recommendations

At our third meeting together, I will have customized recommendations drafted to share with you. The draft considers all the information I have gathered during our previous calls, such as your risk tolerance, goals, and priorities. What may be different from other advisors is that the plan I give you at this point contains step-by-step action items to help you pursue your financial goals.

Step 5: Welcome to Blair Capital Management

You have taken time to carefully consider your options and have chosen Blair Capital Management. Welcome! At this point I’ll provide details about how we’ll work together going forward, and you’ll complete paperwork to formalize our partnership. We’ll be in regular contact regarding your portfolio, and you are always welcome to get in touch as questions arise.

Step 6: I Start Managing

Preserving your capital is my number-one priority. With this in mind, I do everything I can to not allow large losses to develop. As I manage your portfolio and carry out our plans, please know that I do not get emotional about a certain stock, any sector, or any one view of the market. My experience has shown me that any restrictions such as these are only detrimental to long-term performance. My management of your portfolio is buttressed upon mitigating losses and sticking with the winners. I believe in quickly taking losses and slowly taking profits.

It is important to note that as your goals and needs change, so will your financial plan. I will be alongside you every step of the way and through each life experience—a new child, a new grandchild, a new car purchase, a new home, and retirement, to name a few.
